Notes on the official list

  • The State Board of Elections voted on August 21, 2026 to certify the November 3, 2026 general election ballot and let its staff amend the certification for court orders, withdrawals and similar changes. The Board does not post the certification document itself, so the candidates here come from its online candidate list for the general election, keeping only candidates the list shows as Active and not as write-ins or with an objection pending.
  • The online list prints names last name first and party names in capital letters. We used the first-name-first form each candidate's detail page shows (for example "JB Pritzker") and wrote party names in normal capitalization (for example "Democratic" for DEMOCRATIC).
  • Illinois elects the governor and lieutenant governor together. The list pairs JB Pritzker with Christian Mitchell (Democratic), Darren Bailey with Aaron B. Del Mar (Republican) and Collin Corbett with Carolyn Schofield (Independent); this file lists only the candidates for governor.
  • The list shows these filers as Removed, so they are not included: Tyrone F Muhammad (U.S. Senate, Independent); for governor and lieutenant governor, the Green ticket of Griselda Romero and Eyde Arndell, the Independence Party ticket of Gary Pierce and Alejandro Cabrera, and Richard Mayers (listed under the party label NEW); and Mayra Macias and Byron Sigcho Lopez (4th District, Independent).
  • The list does not mark incumbents. JB Pritzker is marked as the incumbent governor because the Illinois governor's official website identifies him as the current governor; no other incumbency is recorded here.
  • Campaign websites are the ones each candidate's detail page on the list shows; the list prints them without "https://", which we added.
