Super Citizen Weight

Everyone who answers a Pulse counts as one. Someone who proves what they know can count for a little more, up to 1.5, and nobody ever counts as two people. It’s about knowledge, never about who you are: what you do, where you live or how you vote earns nothing.

How it’s earned

  • A right answer to a Check (questions on a news article) or a Lesson earns 1 Credit. Only your first answer to a question counts, so guessing through the choices earns nothing.
  • A Check from an outlet, or a leaning, you haven’t read in 30 days earns 1.5×. Reading across the spectrum pays.
  • Questions come back for Review 14 days later, then at doubling gaps. Remembering earns 2 Credits.
  • Answering a Pulse earns nothing: an opinion isn’t knowledge. Visits, streaks and time on the site earn nothing either.
  • There’s no daily limit. Learn as much as you like, as fast as you like.

The formula

weight = 1 + 0.5 × (1 − e−credits ÷ 180) × fade

The first Credits move it most, and each step after is harder; it gets ever closer to 1.5 without reaching it. Weights are shown cut to two decimals, never rounded up.

If you step away

Nothing changes for 3 months after your last right answer. After that, the part above 1.0 shrinks evenly to nothing over the next year. Your Credits are never taken away: answer a Review, Check or Lesson question right and the full weight comes back.

Who counts, and how results show it

  • Anyone can answer everything. A Pulse result includes only people signed in with a verified email; guests aren’t in the sample until they sign in, and what they earned comes with them.
  • Each answer counts at the weight its person had when they gave it.
  • Every result shows the Super Citizen count (each answer times its weight) first, with the unweighted count beside it, at the same size. When weighting moves a choice by 5 points or more, the result says so.
  • Each Pulse stays open 7 days. When it closes, its result is fixed and never changes.
  • Pulse results come from the people who chose to answer, a self-selected sample. They aren’t polls; for those, see Polls.
  • If you tell us where you stand politically (on your profile), it’s used only to break results down by group, and only for groups of 25 or more. Nobody else sees it, and you can clear it at any time.

The rules are set out in SuperCitizen’s decision record, ADR-0013. The numbers above are the ones the site uses.
