§3Notes on the official list

  • Wisconsin elects the governor and lieutenant governor as a joint ticket. The ballot lines read 'Tom Tiffany / David Varnam' and 'David Crowley / Sarah Godlewski'; we list only the governor candidate's name.
  • District 2 has only one candidate on the ballot: Mark Pocan.
  • Incumbency comes from the 'Incumbent' line the Commission prints above each office. For District 4 it names 'Gwen S. Moore', the same person whose ballot name is 'Gwen Moore'. The District 7 incumbent, Tom Tiffany, is running for governor, and Governor Tony Evers filed a notice that he would not run again.
  • The Commission's 'Candidates on Ballot by Election' list does not itself use the word 'certified', so certified is false. The Commission's calendar sets August 25, 2026 as the day it sends its certification of general election candidates to county clerks, and this list was printed that day. The Commission's newer 'All Contests and Candidates' spreadsheet (October 6, 2026) shows the same candidates for these races.
  • One column of the Commission's spreadsheet spells the District 8 incumbent's last name 'Weid'. Its ballot-name column and the August 25 list both say 'Tony Wied', which we used.
