§3Notes on the official list
- Not marked certified: the Florida Division of Elections calls its candidate tracking system an unofficial reference, and we found no separately published certified list of general-election candidates. Every name here also appears in the general-election contests the Division has loaded on its results site (FloridaElectionWatch.gov), and the statewide races match the Levy County sample ballot.
- U.S. Senate: Florida's list names the office 'United States Senator' without calling it a special election. We marked it special because Senate.gov lists Ashley Moody in Class III, whose term ends January 3, 2029, and Florida law fills a Senate vacancy at the next general election.
- U.S. House District 10: Maxwell Alejandro Frost (Democrat, incumbent) is the only qualified candidate and the state lists him as unopposed. Florida law treats an unopposed candidate as elected without appearing on the general-election ballot (it deems the candidate to have voted for himself or herself), so this race has no candidates on the ballot and does not appear on the state's results site.
- Florida enacted a new congressional map in 2026 (HB 1D). The Division told U.S. House candidates the new districts apply to the 2026 election, so the district numbers in this file follow the new map, not the 2024 one.
- Florida's candidate list and ballot print three-letter party codes (REP, DEM, NPA, LPF, FFP, IND). We used the words the Division prints on each candidate's page (Republican, Democrat, No Party Affiliation). Where a candidate's page shows only a minor-party code, we used that party's registered name from the Division's party list: LPF is the Libertarian Party of Florida, FFP is the Florida Forward Party, and IND is the Independent Party of Florida (a party, not the same as no party affiliation).
- Governor: Florida prints each governor candidate with a lieutenant governor running mate in one voting space. We recorded only the governor candidate. The running mates are Bryan Avila (with Byron Donalds), Gwen Graham (with David Jolly), Nicole Skelly (with Scott Eckhard Jewett), Ruben A. Coto (with Charles Burkett), Rachel Rodriguez (with Frank J. Russo), Benjiman Rojas (with Moliere "Moe" Dimanche), Joe Van Vactor (with Dean Ocean Abrams) and Juan Santana (with Jeffrey Peter "Dr. Jeff" Datto).
- U.S. House District 6: Michael Gist (No Party Affiliation) qualified in June 2026, and the Division's document list shows a withdrawal letter dated September 16, 2026. The state list marks him withdrawn and its results site leaves him out of the District 6 contest, but Flagler County's official sample ballot still prints his name, so we list him, with a note on the race that he has withdrawn. Flagler County's election page lists September 15, 2026, the day before his withdrawal letter, as the date ballots were mailed to overseas voters. Flagler is one of the district's six counties; we did not check the other five counties' ballots.
- U.S. House District 24: Andy Daro (No Party Affiliation) qualified in June 2026, but the state list marks him withdrawn and its results site leaves him out of the District 24 contest, so we left him out. We found no withdrawal date for him.
- Governor: Desmond Meade (No Party Affiliation) qualified, then filed a withdrawal letter dated August 27, 2026. He is not on the Levy County sample ballot or the state's results site, so we left him out.
- Qualified write-in candidates (for governor and in House Districts 5, 6, 14, 15, 19, 21, 24 and 25) are left out because their names are not printed on the ballot.
